Baking soda volcano: acid–base chemistry at home

You will need

• Baking soda — 2 tbsp
• Vinegar — 100 ml
• Food coloring, dish soap
• A bottle and a clay "crater"

Steps

1. Pour the soda into the bottle.
2. Add a few drops of coloring and dish soap.
3. Pour in the vinegar — and watch the eruption!

Why it works

Acetic acid reacts with sodium bicarbonate, releasing carbon dioxide — that gas makes the "lava".
